Where Pakistan is famous for producing numerous gems in large quantities that range from commercial-fine quality, there are some that top the list and have gained international appreciation. Emeralds from Swat Valley, Aquamarine from Shigar Valley and Peridot from Sapat Valley, just to name a few. Peridot from Sapat Valley entered the market in the early 1990’s and have since then gained a reputation of occurring in large gem quality crystals with vivid saturated hues and excellent clarity. There is hardly any other source known to produce gem quality crystals in large sizes as regularly as the Sapat Valley in Pakistan
Occasionally they may contain Ludwigite-Vonsenite Needles along with thin to relatively thick, hair-fine to acicular yellow fibers. These needles and fibers hint at high temperature contact metamorphic deposit
Same is the case at hand, examining a beautiful 53ct monster Peridot from Pakistan that has Ludwigite-Vonsenite Needles and yellow fibers beautifully oriented throughout the stone. Photomicrographs display their varying and mystical appearance encompassed within a vividly saturated host
