“Had the pleasure to examine this emerald nearly 6 months ago. It is from the Swat area in Pakistan. Apart from having vivid green hues that sometimes rival Colombia’s famous emerald green hues, emeralds from this area are known for their unique and very interesting inclusions. Inclusions which never cease to amaze me as I tend to find something new in every stone that I examine from this region.
Emeralds from this area sometimes contain trapiche like patterns, although, to the best of my knowledge, no true trapiche emeralds have been found from this region yet.
This particular stone in question is definitely one of the most unique emeralds I have ever examined. It had what appeared to be an incomplete trapiche formation pattern with a perfect hexagonal core on one side. Upon detailed examination, I found that the hexagonal core was actually a growth tube which went right through the center of the stone with an opening on the other side. The following pictures were taken while following the tube by tilting the stone step by step.”
(The entire tube is visible in the second last picture)
