Examining Pakistani Aquamarine this week. Aqua’s are host to a great number of beautiful and interesting inclusions, some of which can be observed here.
First photograph shows a cross section of crystals and needles surrounded by other mineral crystals and two-phase inclusions in the background. The intersecting cross section of these crystals hints at their identity i.e., Tourmaline. Slender rod-shaped inclusions that appear to be Tourmaline can be observed in other photographs as well. Tourmaline in various colors can be found as a mineral inclusion in Aquamarine from Pakistan and other places like Brazil.
A small orange mineral inclusion that appears to be a Spessartine Garnet can be seen along with groups of intergrown crystals in other photographs.
Numerous parallel growth tubes can be examined in almost every photograph. Beryl has the tendency to develop growth tubes which run parallel to the prism faces that may be filled with aqueous solutions and may also contain multimineralic fillings, as can be observed in the photographs.
Tantalite and Columbite needles, Manganocolumbite and Manganotantalite tufts/needles, awl shaped Columbite crystals, Feldspar, Mica, Quartz, Muscovite and white to transparent and colorless Albite crystals are some of the other mineral inclusions that can be found in Pakistani Aquamarine.
Ultra-flat films of two-phase fluid inclusions that display a colorful kaleidoscopic effect under oblique fiber optic illumination is another beautiful inclusion associated with Aquamarine.
